Περιγραφή
Alexander the Great was born in Pella, 45 km from Thes saloniki, Macedonia, Greece on 356 BC. He was the son of King Philip II. His mother Olympiada was daughter of King of Epirus Neoptolemos and sister of King Alexander of Epirus. King Philip, when Alexander was to be born, saw in his dream that a lion came to his family (kings were represented as lions in ancient Greece). When Alexander was 12 years of age, he tamed the wild horse Bucephalus, an enormous stal- lion which no other noble man of the palace could tame. Al- exander realized that Bucephalus was afraid of his own shadow. This horse became his close battle companion. At the age of 13 years Alexander became a pupil of the great philosopher Aristotle (Aristotle, 384-323 BC, was born in Sta- gira, Chalkidiki, Macedonia). At the age of 16 years, his father Philip II king of Macedonia, campaigned against the city of Vyzantio where now is Constantinople (at that time Vyzantio was a colony of Megara, a city near Athens) and the nearby city of Perinthos (a colony of Samos island).
